Social Networking giant Facebook has purchased data compression and anlaytics company Onavo.
The companies did not offer financial details of the deal.
According to the Onavo’s official blog, the company’s Tel-Aviv office will remain open for business and will become Facebook’s new Israeli office.
Onavo produces apps for both iOS and Android that inform users about which apps on their phones are using data. The company’s Onavo Extend app, compresses data in the cloud, saving on an end user’s data cap.
Onavo says the next step fo the company is to help Facebook in its “mission to connect the world” through the Internet.org initiative.
When the transaction closes, Onavo says it will continue running the Onavo mobile utility apps as a standalone brand.
Onavo was co-founded Guy Rosen and Roi Tiger.
