Sprint will launch a new LG smartphone on Nov. 11, the Optimus G. The Android smartphone has a 4.7-inch WXGA HD display, 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 13 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and runs on Sprint’s LTE network. It carries a sticker price of $200 with new two-year contract and is available for pre-order on Nov. 1.
AT&T has updated its “connection kits” for emerging device developers. The new kits provide wireless modules from Sierra Wireless, Telit Wireless Solutions and ZTE, as well as SIM cards, use of AT&T’s network for testing purposes, access to the cmopany’s control center and a list of best practices. The packages are designed to help speed time to market for new devices.

The GSMA is going all-out with NFC at its summit in Milan next week. All registered attendees will get a NFC-capable Samsung Galaxy Mini II so they can test out the technology while at the event. Badges and posters will be embedded with NFC chips, and NFC demos will include coupons, a coffee vending machine, bike sharing and various point of sale solutions. The GSMA NFC & Mobile Money Summit runs Oct. 22-25.
