Motorola today introduced Moto G, featuring a 4.5-inch HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, and Android 4.3 Jellybean with a guaranteed upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat at the beginning of 2014. In the US, Moto G will be sold on Motorola.com, with no contract, no SIM lock and an unlockable bootloader for USD$179 with 8GB of storage and USD$199 for 16GB. Moto G will also be available through various carriers and retailers.
IBM today announced a definitive agreement to acquire Fiberlink Communications, a mobile management and security company. Financial terms were not disclosed. With Fiberlink’s MaaS360 cloud-based offerings, IBM will expand its bring your own device (BYOD) capabilities to deliver a complete mobile management and security solution through IBM MobileFirst.

DragonWave Inc., a global supplier of packet microwave radio systems for mobile and access networks, today announced the commercial availability of its 60 GHz technology in the Horizon Compact+ and Avenue Link product lines. Currently in production, DragonWave’s 60 GHz products have already been deployed in successful small cell mobile operator trials. These products are well suited for metro deployment in small cell architectures due to their small form factor and high-capacity, low-delay transport capabilities.
