Google just wormed its way a little deeper into Apple’s iPhone.
The company on Thursday launched Gboard, a new app for the iPhone that integrates Google Search into the device’s keyboard.
Gboard incorporates a small icon into the iPhone’s regular keyboard that, when tapped, allows users to conduct Google searches without leaving whatever app they’re in. In addition to performing regular searches, Google said Gboard also allows users to search for both emojis and GIFs. The keyboard also allows for glide typing.
Gboard search results appear as cards in the keyboard area and can be inserted into the text conversation with a single tap, Google said.
Google said the keyboard works across all apps, including regular messaging, email and YouTube.
The Gboard app is currently available in English in the United States, but Google said it will be adding more languages.
