According to a report in Taiwan’s DigiTimes, HTC is no longer the world’s leading vendor of Windows Mobile-based smartphones. The report says that, based on internal data from Microsoft, HTC has dropped to third place behind Motorola and Samsung. Previous data showed HTC claiming over 50% of the Windows Mobile market share.
One reason for the drop could be that HTC started marketing handsets under its own brand last year.
The DigiTimes report did show that HTC is still the top vendor of Windows Mobile-based PDA phones, followed by Palm and then Samsung.
