• T-Mobile UK and MySpace have announced that the carrier will embed a MySpace Mobile application on its Sidekick Slide handsets. The MySpace Mobile app will push messages, comments, friend requests and other information directly to the device. Users are also able to upload photos taken with Sidekick to their MySpace pages. The application was created by Danger, the maker of the Sidekick OS.
• Sierra Wireless announced that the AirLink HSUPA product line is now certified for use on the AT&T BroadbandConnect high-speed wireless network in the United States. The AirLink Raven X, Pinpoint X and MP 881W are the first HSUPA-enabled standalone rugged mobile and M2M devices available to take full advantage of the faster data speeds provided by AT&T’s HSUPA network.
• Namco Networks, a publisher and developer of mobile games and entertainment for mass-market casual gamers, and Alltel Wireless are giving away a Limited Edition PAC-MAN Arcade Machine and other prizes to Alltel customers subscribing to mobile games from Namco. • Broadcom has announced four new 802.11n products that it says will further drive the adoption of high speed Wi-Fi technology and device convergence in the home. The new products include BCM4323 802.11n for USB and a new line of 802.11n router chips, the BCM4716, BCM4717 and BCM4718.
• Ubiquisys says that it became the first femtocell vendor to announce its commitment to the 3GPP’s emerging Iuh interface, promising standardized communications between femtocells and the gateways in mobile operators’ networks. Ubiquisys will support this interface in its products ready for the planned approval of Iuh in December 2008.
