Nokia Announces Lumia Icon, Coming Feb. 20 to Verizon

By Ben Munson | February 12, 2014

Nokia today announced the Lumia Icon, its new 5-inch Windows Phone flagship.(Image: Nokia)

Besides having a name that’s easier to remember than your typical Nokia, the Icon packs a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, full HD OLED display and Nokia’s 20MP Pureview camera.

The camera shoots in 1080p, records in stereo and packs features and apps like Nokia Refocus and Storyteller while supporting tricks like single-finger zoom.

The Icon comes with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage but doesn’t allow for expanded storage. Nokia tacks on a free 7 GB of storage in Skydrive to make up for it.

The Icon supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, BLE 4.0, NFC and Qi-standard wireless charging.

Starting Feb. 20, the Icon will be available as a Verizon U.S. exclusive in white or black for $200 with a two-year contract. Pre-ordering from Microsoft starts today and customers who sign up before March 16 will get a free wireless charging accessory.
