Samsung is looking to differentiate its next flagship Galaxy phone with a three-sided display. That phone will include displays on the front, as well as on the left and right bezels.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Samsung plans to release two versions of its next Galaxy smartphone, one of which will include the unique display.
A phone with only a front-facing display will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in early March.
Bloomberg claims that both phones will have metal casings and include Samsung’s most advanced processors.
Samsung needs something new. The South Korean OEM has lost ground in the smartphone game to Apple recently, as Cupertino launched the outsized iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and expanded sales to China.
According to new numbers from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, the iPhone outsold all Android OEMs combined in the U.S in the fourth quarter.
Apple’s flagship captured 47.7 percent of the U.S. market and jumped out to a slim lead over Android’s 47.6 percent share. The study says this is the first time iOS has outsold Android since the same time in 2012.
