Slingshot Communications has announced the availability of a prepaid wireless broadband access service in the United States. Users who previously hesitated signing up for extended contracts for wireless broadband Internet service now have the option of paying only when they need to access the Internet.
“Rather than paying upwards of $75 a month for ‘unlimited’ wireless Internet access, Slingshot enables you to cut your costs and doesn’t require a long-term contract,” said David Vindici, chairman and CEO of Slingshot, in a statement. “You’re free to access the Internet wirelessly and on your terms.”
Slingshot’s product will be available starting June 1 at selected retail locations and online at slingshot.com. The service will not require a contract, monthly fees, or a credit check, and will promise a secure alternative to Wi-Fi hotspots.
