Napster on Thursday said it is teaming up with U.S. wireless carrier Sprint to bring its music library to wireless customers.
The company said Sprint will provide Napster’s Listener Network and library of more than 40 million songs to wireless customers on its network. Sprint customers on both iOS and Android will receive one month of the Napster service free and thereafter will be able to add Napster to their Sprint Bill for $9.99 per month.
Napster said Sprint’s prepaid brands Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile have also added Napster to their selection of data-free music streaming services, allowing customers to listen without using high speed data from their plan allowance.
The agreement marks the latest sample-before-signup scheme from Sprint. The carrier also offered a free 60-day trial of sports app fuboTV during the Copa America soccer tournament, which could subsequently be added to a customer’s Sprint bill for $9.99 per month.
