Transpera is taking the wraps off a new technology platform for its mobile video advertising network, which supports Apple’s iOS, Android and BlackBerry.
The platform and SDK release allows any app developer to earn money through the video ads from big brand advertisers, like Ford Motor Company, Proctor & Gamble, Marriott, Microsoft and Paramount Pictures.
Alex Galvagni, president and COO at Transpera, says too many mobile video ads force consumers to wait for downloads and sit through less-than-optimal jittering and stuttering videos. Transpera’s engineers made sure the video quality is superb, without jittering or delays, and its design team focused on making sure it delivered a good consumer experience, he says.
The video is downloaded in the background and there’s no need for a device to continually go back to the network – thereby conserving network resources.
Some of the new features of the platform include InstaPlay, where video ads download in the background, resulting in instant play back and eliminating buffering, wait times or stuttering. IntelliCache is Transpera’s proprietary multi-level caching technology that ensures ads aren’t repeatedly downloaded over mobile networks.
Transpera says its mobile video ad units have mobile-specific calls to action that leverage the unique attributes of a mobile device, including click to call, click to locate, survey capabilities, social media sharing options and more.
Back in June, Transpera announced that Greg Ballard, former Glu Mobile CEO, was taking the position of CEO at Transpera. Ballard is still chairman of Transpera’s board, but he has since taken a position heading digital games at Warner Bros., and Galvagni is running the day-to-day business as president at Transpera. Galvagni also is a former Glu executive.
