U.S. Cellular Plans Pre-Loaded Daily Deals Service

By Staff Author | July 11, 2011

U.S. Cellular plans to pre-load a daily deals service on all its phones, mobile advertising company Mobile Posse announced today.

Mobile Posse, the company powering the ad service, said that the technology will provide customers with information about their account, mobile content and daily offers from local businesses and national retailers.

The company said the service is currently available as a free app for Android and BlackBerry devices and “will soon be pre-loaded on all U.S. Cellular phones.”

“Forging a partnership with Mobile Posse has enabled us to deliver another benefit to our customers,” said Joe Settimi, U.S. Cellular senior director of data strategy and services, in a press release.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Cellular said customers could opt out of the service on the app’s menu screen. The app will begin appearing on U.S. Cellular handsets this fall.

The service runs on Mobile Posse’s MobiCRM platform, which delivers messages to a device’s home screen even when the handset is not in use. The technology aims to promote a carrier’s products and services and supports click-to-call, click-to-Web, click-to-SMS and click-to-video.

Mobile Posse’s customer list includes Verizon Wireless, MetroPCS and Cricket Communications.
