Cambridge, Mass.-based Vlingo unveiled its voice-powered interface for speech recognition designed specifically for BlackBerry smartphones. Using only their voices, users can send e-mail, and text messages, search the Web, open applications, dial their phones, look up contacts and make notes.
Vlingo is currently supported on the BlackBerry Pearl, Curve and 8800 series smartphones. Vlingo will be adding additional devices and operating systems in Q3 and Q4 2008.
Earlier this year, Yahoo! selected 2-year-old vlingo to voice-enable its oneSearch service. The application is available free of charge.
