Verizon customers who use social media to refer friends or family to the carrier will now get a special thank you.
On Friday, Verizon said it will now dole out up to $100 in Visa rewards cards each month to customers for referral posts shared on Facebook or Twitter. The carrier said it will offer $25 for one referral, $50 for two referrals and $100 for three referrals that end in activation with Verizon. Newly referred customers will also receive a $50 Visa rewards card.
Verizon said customers who want to participate in the rewards program can log on to its referral website, select a social media option and post the referral. Friends or family who see the post will be able to click on the post, enter their email and activate a new account either online, in-store or by phone.
“What’s better than being on the better network w/ me,” the prepared post reads. “We both get paid! Sign up w/ @verizon & get a $50 Visa Rewards Card.”
The rewards cards will be sent to both the new and existing customers after the new account has been active for 45 days, Verizon said.
The program roll out comes just one day after AT&T launched the “Ticket Twosdays” element of its new “AT&T Thanks” rewards program.
The promotion offers AT&T customers one free movie ticket when they buy one at full price for a Tuesday showing. One free ticket redemption code will be offered per account while supplies last, the carrier said. Participating venues include AMC Theatres and Regal Entertainment Group.
AT&T said it is also planning to roll out another element of its “Thanks” program – presale access to concert tickets – this fall.
