LAS VEGAS – AT&T today announced new partnerships with Samsung, LG, Qualcomm and Lutron Electronics for its Digital Life smart home platform. New services and third-party product integrations will allow Digital Life subscribers to control connected home features with their smartwatches, as well as expand the platform’s notification and monitoring functionality.
Samsung will now integrate the Digital Life app on its Gear S smartwatch. AT&T will also add to its portfolio Samsung’s SmartCam HD Pro, an IP camera with motion detection features that promise to reduce false alarms. The SmartCam will be available some time in 2015.
Qualcomm’s mHealth platform 2net will also soon integrate with Digital Life. Qualcomm’s platform allows for remote monitoring of patient biometrics.
LG smart TVs running the WebOS platform and Qualcomm’s Alljoyn IoT standard will soon be able to receive on-screen notifications from Digital Life.
Lighting company Lutron will also have its products, like window shades, integrated into AT&T’s platform, allowing for preset controls.
“Innovation in home automation is skyrocketing, but to really drive mass adoption, we need to leverage the strong platform that we have built working with key industry leaders and developers to bring the best ideas together to benefit the customer. That’s what we’re going to continue do in 2015,” Senior Vice President of AT&T Digital Life Kevin Petersen said in a statement.
Digital Life is now in 82 markets.
