Travelers buying international data packages from AT&T can now count on an extra gigabyte per month thanks to an agreement the carrier just reached with global Wi-Fi provider Boingo.
AT&T customers who pay either $60 for 300 MB or $120 for 800 MB per month for international mobile data will gain access to 1 GB on Boingo’s hotspots for no additional charge. Considering the overage charges run steep at $30 per additional 120 MB of international data, this is good news for consumers looking to keep their bills under control.
On the flip side, Boingo customers traveling in the U.S. will now have access to AT&T’s Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the country.
Boingo’s network reaches an average of 1.5 billion people worldwide annually.
