T-Mobile is shifting its planned Uncarrier 5.0 event from Los Angeles to Seattle in order to get closer to Amazon’s big device reveal. Now both events will take place June 18 in Seattle, the home turf for both companies.
T-Mobile is framing the move as a response to media concerns or complaints. An email accompanying the updated invite read:
Our Seattle neighbor Amazon has big news on the 18th too – and right in our own back yard. We are looking forward to it! We heard a lot of journalists were planning to cover one or both events remotely, or send people to two places on the 18th. What a pain! And, you know, we do love to eliminate pain points. So, in true Un-carrier fashion, we are eliminating this pain point by moving Un-carrier 5.0 to Seattle on June 18th.
Amazon is rumored to be unveiling a 3D smartphone at its event. It’s unclear what T-Mobile has planned for its event but the carrier is using the tagline “We’re not playing it safe and sound.”
