(LAS VEGAS) – Prepaid carrier Cricket Communications has announced availability of the Samsung Galaxy S4, as well as a new advertising campaign that challenges wireless giants Verizon and AT&T.
The Galaxy S4 will be available through Cricket on June 7 for $599.99. In a move that seems a lot like T-Mobile’s recent change to financing phones for its customers, Cricket said qualifying customers can put $54.99 down and make monthly payments on the phone.
But T-Mobile isn’t Cricket’s target today. The company launched a new advertising campaign entitled ‘Half is More’ that highlights Cricket’s pricing plans when compared to AT&T and Verizon.
Tyler Wallis, senior vice president of product and marketing at Cricket Communications, said in a statement that he thinks wireless customers have been misled to believe postpaid is the only way to go.
“Cricket is challenging consumers and asking the question that if you can pay only half and get the same thing, why wouldn’t you?” Wallis said.
The ‘Half Is More’ campaign is rolling out now across digital, print, retail, out-of-home and social media, with television advertising beginning June 3, 2013.
