By Wireless Week staff | September 3, 2014

Alcatel-Lucent has been selected by NTELOS Holdings Corp. to provide 4G LTE network services for the nTelos Wireless network build-out in West Virginia and parts of western Virginia. The network will serve an additional 2.1 million people. nTelos will deploy Alcatel-Lucent base stations supporting Sprint’s 1900MHz, 800MHz and 2.5G spectrum.

Apkudo announced the launch of ‘Confirmed Kill’ testing to verify and validate smartphone kill switch implementations. The test suite – an extension of Apkudo Approved device analysis – will ensure device kill switches meet the requirements of the law.

Syntonic, a sponsored data and connected services provider, today launched nationwide connected education services for K-12 students. The new Syntonic On-Ramp Education Services integrates district and school managed educational content, nationwide AT&T 4G connectivity, and mobile devices to provide students with equal access to online educational resources and learning tools.

GENBAND, a developer of software-based real time communications solutions, today introduced GENBAND Simply Mobile, a portfolio of mobile capabilities that makes it easier for communications service providers and enterprises to go mobile. Simply Mobile solutions enable carrier, enterprises and systems integrators to embed contextual real time communications into vertical-specific mobile applications, compete through white label cloud-based pay-as-you-go Over-the-Top (OTT) solutions, enable mobility and connectivity by integrating Small Cells, Wi-Fi and cellular networks, and expand their real time communications options in an all-IP world.
