FirstNews Briefs: Ericsson, Qualcomm, WIND Mobile, Spirent, Nubo, Orange

By Wireless Week staff | January 31, 2014

Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. successfully completed an inter-vendor interoperability testing of LTE Category 6, based on commercial LTE chipsets and infrastructure supporting Telstra’s carrier aggregation bands. Final stages of testing were completed in collaboration with Telstra, whose LTE Advanced network in Australia is being readied for Category 6 commercial launch.

WIND Mobile announced its Unlimited U.S. Roaming add-on, that will give customers unlimited data, talk and text across the United States. WIND Mobile’s Unlimited U.S. Roaming add-on will be available for $15 per month and will offer subscribers mobile data anywhere in the USA.

Spirent Communications announced it has collaborated with Signals Research Group (SRG) and ETS-Lindgren on a independent Over-the-Air (OTA) benchmark study of commercial LTE smartphone performance.

Nubo, the Android-based cloud workspace, has released a new version of its bring-your-own-device (BYOD) solution that leaves zero data on employee devices. The Nubo team made updates to Nubo’s UX Over IP technology, the patent-pending remote display protocol that allows users to control cloud-based applications as if they were on the user’s own mobile device.

Orange Business Services has renewed and expanded a satellite capacity contract with SES to support its growing network connectivity needs in the Russian Federation. The Ku-band capacity leased by Orange Business Services will be hosted on the high-powered NSS-12 satellite located at 57 degrees East.
