• Wireless LAN solutions provider Meru Networks has raised $30 million in a private funding round led by a new investor managed by Vision Capital Advisors of New York City. Existing investors, including Clearstone Venture Partners, NeoCarta Ventures, BlueStream Ventures, The D. E. Shaw Group, Evercore Partners, Tenaya Capital and Monitor Ventures, also participated in the funding round.
• Glu Mobile announced the launch of its Cooking Star application on the Apple App Store. The game is an original title and designed to take advantage of the accelerometer and multi-touch user interface of the iPhone and iPod touch. It sells for $2.99.
• Digital Chocolate says Mini Golf 99 Holes Theme Park is now available on the Apple App Store. It sells for $5.99.
• Red Bend Software has combined its vCurrent Mobile and vRapid Mobile products into a single solution for mobile software management. The combined product, called vRapid Mobile, is capable of managing any type of software on any mobile platform or device, the company says.
• Wilson Electronics, provider of amplifiers and antennas for cellular phones and data cards, announced the launch of the Wilson Electronics’ SignalBoost DB Pro, an in-building cellular amplifier kit designed to improve voice and data performance of any cellular device. The SignalBoost DB Pro is now available through authorized Wilson Electronics’ dealers with an average selling price of $600.
• In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Fox Mobile Distribution (FMD), a unit of Fox Mobile Group, is offering the Green Living Guide mobile application for free to U.S. consumers through April 26 via its Jamster service. The mobile application offers tips and recommendations on how to live a greener, environmentally friendly life and includes sections on conservation, recycling, reuse, transportation and ongoing sustainable solutions for green living.
• Mobile advertising company Quattro Wireless has appointed Lynn Tornabene as chief marketing officer. Tornabene will lead the company’s global corporate and product marketing. She previously served as head of DoubleClick Communications for Google, coming to the company through its acquisition of DoubleClick. Quattro also hired Dan Grigorivici as vice president of data strategy, targeting and analytics, and Mike Owen as East Coast director of ad sales.
• Keynote Systems announced a free version of its mobile interactive testing environment, MITE. The desktop tool allows mobile developers to interactively test and validate mobile content across more than 1,600 mobile device profiles, and is available at http://mite.keynote.com/.
• Digital Cyclone, a subsidiary of Garmin, says an addition to its product suite is now available on the iPhone. My-Cast OneLook is a weather application available and lets users view animated radar, clouds and severe weather information. It sells for $1.99.
• ADC says the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago has deployed its InterReach Fusion in-building cellular systems to provide coverage for staff, visitors and guests at the Chicago landmark.
• NeoMedia Technologies was selected by IQ mobile to provide 2D barcoding services for its advertising campaigns. The first campaign to use the technology was the recently concluded interactive advertising campaign to promote Nokia’s new navigation phones in Austria.
