HTC said it plans to sell more HTC-branded handsets going forward and estimated Q2 revenue to rise more than 20% year-over-year. The handset maker said it expects revenue to reach $1.12 billion for the current quarter, while analysts had predicted $1.17 billion.
The smartphone maker also said it plans to launch a high-end 3.5G handset next month, with the goal of boosting sales for the quarter.
HTC’s CFO Cheng Hui-ming reportedly told investors: “Under a more uncertain economic environment, we’re being more conservative.”
