T-Mobile USA has confirmed Deutsche Telekom executive Philipp Humm as president and CEO.
Humm replaces Robert Dotson, who announced his resignation earlier this year. Dotson will continue as vice chairman of T-Mobile’s board of directors.
“T-Mobile has grown into a strong consumer brand known for great value and recognized as a leader in customer service,” Humm said in a statement. “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead T-Mobile toward future growth and plan to continually improve the way we serve our customers.”
Humm headed T-Mobile Deutschland from 2005 to 2008, helping to turn the operator around to become Germany’s top carrier. He was also responsible for the successful market introduction of the iPhone in Germany in 2007.
T-Mobile also moved Chief Technology Officer Cole Brodman into the role of chief marketing officer. Neville Ray, T-Mobile’s chief network officer, has been moved to the post of chief technology officer. Brodman and Ray’s new posts become effective Nov.1.
