T-Mobile’s MetroPCS prepaid brand today announced that it will offer unlimited LTE for $50 per month.
According to a press release, customers who sign up for the unlimited plan by April 5 can keep the $50 unlimited plan indefinitely.
In conjunction with the plans, MetroPCS is offering the Samsung Galaxy Light for $49 and the LG Optimus F60 for $59. T-Mobile is saying that the $50 promotional plans is available only to customers with MetroPCS GSM phones with LTE connectivity, while BYOD phones and CDMA phones are not eligible for the plan.
In addition, the prepaid carrier is automatically adding 1GB of data to every LTE data bucket. With the new additional gigabyte, MetroPCS’ other plans now include a $40 per month plan that includes unlimited talk, text, and 2GB of LTE Data, and a $50 per month plan that includes talk, text and 4GB of LTE data.
The new deal from MetroPCS appears to be competitive, as well as unique in that it offers true unlimited LTE data without throttling. AT&T’s Cricket prepaid brand currently offers a $60 ($55 for customers who set up auto pay) plan that includes 10GB of LTE data and unlimited talk and text. Sprint’s Boost Mobile brand offers the same.
Earlier this month, the Un-carrier announced in preliminary subscriber numbers that it had added 266,000 branded prepaid net customer additions.
Shares of T-Mobile were flat at Wednesday’s opening bell at $29.54.
