Sprint Halves Cost of LG G6

By Megan Crouse | April 7, 2017

Beginning on April 7, Sprint is offering LG G6 for half the original price across all retail channels. The LG G6 smartphone will be available for $14.75 per month in 24 monthly installments, down from a regular price of $29.50 per month.

It includes High Performance User Equipment, an improvement for performance at 2.5GHz optimized for mobile gaming, video, and other online services. Released in December, HPUE is designed to close the coverage gap between Sprint’s mid- and high-band spectrum. It boosts 2.5GHz coverage by 30 percent, almost matching 1.9GHz spectrum performance with considerations for indoor use.

“The arrival of the LG G6 as the first HPUE-enabled smartphone marks a major milestone for the evolution of Sprint’s network,” said John Saw, Sprint CTO. “Deploying our innovative HPUE technology across our 2.5GHz coverage area nationwide improves the performance of our spectrum and gives customers with HPUE-enabled devices like LG G6 better coverage and faster data speeds in more locations, including at home and at work. We are excited for our customers to experience the benefits of HPUE on this terrific new device and many more to come.”

Sprint claims an average of 204MHz of spectrum and more than 160MHz of 2.5GHz spectrum in the top 100 U.S. markets. Like other carriers, it’s angling to increase capacity and speed as demand increases.

The LG G6 will come in two color options, Ice Platinum and Black.
