Yahoo! announced plans to outsource the Internet telephony portions of Yahoo! Messenger to Jajah. Under the terms of the deal, Jajah will connect calls to and from the instant messaging application and handle billing and customer care. Financial terms of the deal were not released.
Although Yahoo! Messenger has 97 million users, the company has not announced how many use the calling features. Jajah said its own brand will appear along with Yahoo!’s, but users will not notice any other changes to the service.
Founded in 2005, Jajah now has 10 million customers.
As part of its Yahoo! partnership announcement, Jajah said that it has opened up its calling platform to offer strategic managed service solutions.
